With all due respect to you, simply calling the current core team to quit does not make any sense. IMHO, they have done everything they could. The one thing that everybody has to understand is the current political climate for an immigration debate is so bad that it has become the 3rd wheel in politics that no one wants to touch. We are a drop of water when compared to the sea of undocumented workers that are in the forefornt of this debate and nobody gives a flying jack about the employment based applicants whom both the left and the right don't want anything to do with. With such a hostile political climate, why would I vote for a new team who has no experience in the workings of Washington versus the current team's 3 year experience?

But, the big question is what are those strategies? let's say we have elections and elect new core team, how is that team going to change the way we lobby or the way we raise money or the way we get the message across?
The one thing I would do differently as a core team is to reach out to a big community based org like La Raza, for example, and learn their method of communication and their fundraising efforts and see if we can implement it here at IV (easier said than done).

At least I won't give u red dots if you can enlighten us how to get us out of this mess. And yes, we do want our green card so I don't think we can stop the process or stop spending money on that. Also please advise us how to bring all 70K people under one umbrella?
I dont mind getting Red Dots, But please, for god's sake. Stop doing this fruitless campaign. Do you guys think Giving a Clock or sending flowers solved earlier problems. Enough of this Gandhiian ways. This country is not good for people like Gandhi. May be Flower campaign got noticed and created a whole new experience for the USCIS, but i dont think it really helped them do anything in our favor. Already, folks here are wasting their money, year after year, on their EADs and APs for them and their family. Just think for a second guys, It costs us 1000 $ to maintain status on AOS and visit our family and this is going on indefinitely for our years now. USCIS/Congress does not want to do anything about this, They are happy to get the revenue. Even if you think a minimum of 200,000 people spending 1000 $ an year, it is 200,000,000 $. Iam not even considering the amount they spent on other things like H1B extension, H4s..... Just think about the Dollars they are making on this Green Card SCAM. Accept it or not, it is indirectly affecting our lives, even though, GC is not really important for lot of folks. Iam one such person, I have a good client and a decent employer and iam with the same folks for 9 years and they are happy extending my H1b at their cost. But still, this whole GC game, is sometimes disturbing. They are playing with our emotions and our loved ones. So, GUYS we need to take a bigger and bolder step. To me, Calling people, sending flowers and letters explaining the situation makes no sense. Do you think, those guys dont really know about our situation. Let us a make a bold move. We are 70,000 folks just here in ImmigrationVoice. Let us compile a letter,that pushes USCIS/Congress on improving the condition. As long as they get those EXTRA Dollars, i dont think anything is going to happen. Even if they remove the provision to apply for GC while on H1B, it is good for us, for we will know that in advance and can plan on shaping our future better, instead of this false promise and emotional torture. I think even AILA or other Lawyers are useless. They dont want to do anything for us. All they do is, interpret the LAW , and explain us in the way we can understand. They dont take steps to fight for the justice. All they care is the money. So let us make our point clear to USCIS, we dont want to waste money on EADs and APs and H1B extensions. If they would not have approved 25k cases in 2 days still they could change the cut off date instead of making unavailable. In any case accepting 500k to 700k applications when Visa number not available might create more problems for USCIS than current mess. I think USCIS well aware of potential lawsuit as they got opposition for similar thing for EB3 other workers in June. There is no strong motive for Scandals as no one gets Finanicial benefit in USCIS or DOS. It needs to be seen how Courts will handle Adminstrative mess up. It is highly unlikely for courts to order USCIS to accept I485 even if they find violation of law. But if court considers the lawsuit it will be used to fix some of the issues in VB regulations

reddog, please explain how you have supported IV in the past in non-monetary ways. For lobbying, there is not much you can do other than support monetarily,or make trips to DC yourself.
I am sure IV core will at least consider such non-monetary support on case-by-case basis.

In my opinion
(1) Community must unite
(2) People must come out of anonymity by providing true information
(3) People must walk the talk - just not open threads and keep discussing
(4) Efforts must be well organized - IV is a great organization - we have state chapters where people can organize themselves - helps us all to do things more effectively
The biggest issue is - everyone come here and open threads but it alll stops there - people join state chapters but do nothing - just want to get updates - and always blame IV for whatever happens and question IV and want to grill IV as to what IV is doing.
Can we all get organized?

Since most of the crowd will file 485 now and will get EAD, I was wondering, if IV will still be putting efforts to make the PD current, or to get the option of filing 485 even if PD is not current?
This will help those -
1. who are stuck in BEC and could not file 485
2. who changed jobs after seeing no movement in PD for months, and labor is not yet filed or approved by new employer.
I am one of them.. and was wondering if there are chances of getting EAD for us. Or we will be employer dependent always.. until .. forever...

Do you posses a valid / current visa along with EAD. They seem to be okay with visa, and seems to lack knowledge on the EAD/485 stuff. Can you please PM the link to the loan office you worked, if he is agreeing to talk / provide updates. BTW, mine is a re-finance, and never had problem before and this is the first time, the visa issue is causing difficulties. The reason I went through this loan agent is the rate I am getting.

Demand for numbers, primarily by USCIS for adjustment of status cases, will bring the entire Employment Third preference category to the annual numerical limit by the end of June. As a result, this category will become “unavailable” beginning in July and will remain so for the remainder of FY-2008. Such action will only be temporary, however, and Employment Third preference availability will return to the cut-off dates established for June in October, the first month of the new fiscal year.
Does this mean that all the numbers for EB3 have been used up, and there will be no more EB3 cases processed till Oct 2008, and hence the category is U;

Not really h1b is a different track all together. If 485 is denied and the denial is final - person is still free to work till h1b expires thats why lawyers say h1b is safer
