Gurus,
I wanted to see if anybody on a US visitor visa travelled from US (New York) to Canada and back on Amtrak. I have following questions.
1. Where do you surrender I-94 (at NY station or at the US border entering into Canada).
2. Amtrak's website does not say much about the entry to US in detail. If you can provide detail that would be very helpful. What if they do a detailed check on you and you miss the train, what are your options. I assume they give you a new I-94 at the US-Canada border when re-entering USA.
3. Any other useful information that you can provide will be helpful.

Hi,
Can one apply for Admission in US University while one is on Visit Visa in USA ?
If yes, will he/ she get I-120 while staying in US ? or one has to leave USA to get I-120, apply for f1 visa and then come on that visa ?

On May 1, 2006, hundreds of thousands of immigrants around the country demonstrated against a restrictive immigration bill introduced in Congress. This weekend, similar demonstrations will occur around the US. I'll be attending my 20th law school reunion in Chicago this weekend and am hoping to attend that rally. I'd really rather be at the one in Phoenix and look forward to hearing reports from there.

I heard that there was a deadline to send 45 day letter before end of June this year. And I have seen 45 day letters coming to my friends and me.
Question is: Is there any deadline for them to complete processing all cases???
Another concern. When they are done processing all 350K cases, think of retrogression!
DOL claims on their website all shall be done by Sept 2007.

Just came across GAO's( General Accountability Office) recommendations to make changes in H-1B program. Eventhough they talk mainly about Staffing Companies and increased employer accountability, there seems to be a mention regarding the H1B extensions beyond 6 years with simultaneous application to green card. Eventhough not stating in exact words, it seems to hint to the congress to seriously relook at H-1B extensions beyond 6years and also regarding cap exempt Visas and supposedly how easy it is to get them. Looks like with the economy being how it is, Congress might use this report to jump in and bring some unfavourable changes. Any thoughts on this...?

Immigration lawmakers try to pick winners and losers. The problem is that just like a broken analog clock with its hands frozen in place, the timing is mostly wrong. This brings me to one of my pet peeves. It bothers me that the immigration laws and agency regulations favor some fields of study and disfavor others. Does anyone know if EAD renewal requires an employment at the time of renewal? My I140 have been approved and I485 pending for long time under EB2-NIW. Also, do I loose legal status to stay in USA if I lost employment while my I485 pending. Again, my GC application is not company sponsored, it was all by myself. Do I stay in right status even I become unemployed while my I485 pending. My I485 will be pending for few more years due to retrogession. So I am wondering if I can stay as unemployed for a period of time while my AOS pending.
Also, do I need to have an employment while re-entering using AP? I recently used my EP to re-enter but no question was asked about employment. I am thinking if I can use AP for re-entry if I travel outside while I am unemployed. I have to think about all this options as chaotic situation is going on the company and layoff might be inevitable.

Hi
I filed my 485 on June 4th 2007 with NSC. It was transferred to TSC and received my Receipt notice. Now I am going to file my AP.
My question is where should I file my AP?. Do I need to file with NSC or TSC?.
Please someone respond.

I need to get my H1B stamped in Mexico. I know there are some agencies which offer a complete package trip to the Mexico US Consulate. Does anybody know some names and contact information?
I am based in Los Angeles and am pretty close to Mexico border. Do they have something in Southern California? Other places are also Ok.
