I must be becoming more wizened than wise at this stage of my legal career to judge a bill by its title. But the label of the proposal to be introduced this week by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R. I have a approved I-140 with company A. It is a substitute labor.
I am getting laid off end of the month and I have a new offer from company B.
Can I port priority date of this I-140 to new company B? Does porting work for substitute labor also?

For the marriage, do you have any evidence of the marriage happening (like you can get something from the priest). You then go to the local registrar of marriage and show him the evidence. He will register the marriage and give you an official certificate. Your relatives in your home country should help you with this procedure.

Just hours after the announcement that DHS will seek to rescind the controversial social security no-match rule, the Senate may consider an amendment to the DHS spending bill that has been introduced by Senator David Vitter (R-LA). Anyone has any idea?
I have approved I140 (EB3, PD:Nov'04) from previous employer; after getting my MBA (Jun'06), I have changed the job and my job description has also changed. New employer will file the labor after 3 months (HR Policy)..I have good relations with previous employer, they are ready to file I485. Is it possible to file I485(previous employer), while I am working with new employer?
I am not sure but I came to know (not reliable source), that it is possible to file I485(previous employer) and during the interview, I can submit a support letter from the new employer. is this correct?

I applied SSN 3 week back and planning to go to India for 2 months due to personnel reasons. I am not yet received my SSN.

Hi ,
1.My wife works for part ime H1b. She has her H1B till Aug 2011. She would Like to apply for her GC. Can she apply for labor certification with part time job? She can get a full time job after she gets in to adjustment of status. She doesn't want full time job now as our kids are still small.
2.I have a fulltime H1B and Approved I-140 EB2. PD sept 2007, waiting for retrogression to file 485!!!! god know when that will happen.Can I apply for EB1 while my EB2 pending?
I have good credential to meet EB1.

Typically, visa backlogs are reduced by issuing visas and thus removing people from the demand list. In this case, the movement is due to decreased demand � people with approved petitions on the waiting list simply aren�t applying for visas.

The article says that dates have moved forward because the people whose dates are current, have not applied for their visas
And suppose we could do the same -- if no one applies the gc even once the PD is current, there will be forward movement.... then WHAM! In one go, all could apply
